Weekly Highlights

Artist residencies are available in April and May at Headbones Gallery and Studio in British Columbia, Canada. Residency duration is one month and partners and children are welcome. Artists are responsible for travel, food, and supplies. Multiple disciplines are welcome to apply across visual, performing, and literary arts.

Nordic Fringe Network has issued an open call for artists to participate in festivals across Scandinavia in the autumn of 2017. The festival focuses on emerging artists but established artists are welcome to apply. The festival encompasses both performing and visual arts as well as spoken word and other categories. Collaborative efforts are encouraged. There is a limited budget for travel and accommodation. Deadline for submissions is March 5.

Art can be both profound and irreverent. FIGMENT NYC has, for the last ten years, called artists together to design a mini-golf course that is free to the public. The project has received quite a lot of attention and critical acclaim and is an opportunity to create interactive works of art. FIGMENT is currently accepting submissions. Artists are responsible for installation and de-installation on site at Governor’s Island in late May. Proposals must include an estimated budget. The deadline for submissions is March 10.

A “vivid culture of communication” is encouraged during residency at Alte Schule Hohenstein. Artists across many disciplines stay from one to 12 months with a preferred residency duration of three months. Semi-communal living and studio space nurtures open collaboration among artists and writers from around the world. All participants provide a daily entry into the school diary for future publication. For application information about this open call, visit the website. There is no fee to submit. Accommodation and associated costs as well as studio costs are covered by the association Alte Schule.

Bringing together a vibrant, world-class food scene with the world of art, the Yountville Art Walk in the heart of Napa Valley, California offers the opportunity for sculptors to have their work reach thousands every day. There is an open call for artists interested in participating in the Art Walk and exposing their art to over 2 million visitors each year.
